A Prayer for Justice (Psalm 58:1–11)

Miscellaneous

Injustice is a reality in a fallen world. People treat us unjustly. They wrong us. They lie to and about us. They connive to harm us. They sometimes take advantage of us, and in some cases even oppress us. Those in authority abuse their authority and use it in destructive ways. They are often corruptible and we suffer because of it. Those who rule as judges and those who write the laws do so unjustly. Criminals are not appropriately punished and the victims often suffer even more as the criminals are often treated as victims. The realisation of such injustice may lead us to panic. We may cry, “The kingdom has been promised, but where is it? Jesus is Lord and sovereign King, so where is He?” But rather than panic we should pray—as the psalmist did in Psalm 58.
