CloseJesus said that the greatest commandment of all is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. The second is to love your neighbour as yourself. “On these two commandments,” said Jesus, “hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37–39). In other words, these two commandments are the foundation of everything else in the Bible. If you don’t build your life on this foundation then the entire building of your life—including your influence in the Great Commission—will come tumbling down. Our commitment to the Great Commandment sustains our commitment to the Great Commission. If we love God then we will love others, and such twofold love will drive us to rescue the perishing to the glory of God. This is the theme that I wish to address from Psalm 81.
