Restoration (Psalm 80:1–19)

Miscellaneous

The Psalms highlight the continual themes of chastening, sorrow, the need and cry for repentance, and restoration, which is essentially the experience of the Christian life. You have perhaps experienced this. You may start the race well, but for various reasons—forgetfulness, neglect of worship, pride, unforgiveness, self-sufficiency, sexual sin, greed, covetousness, unbelief, etc.—you stumble along the way. You find yourself turning away from the Lord and, before you know it, it seems that you have turned pretty far away. But when this happens, how do you respond? Do you hit the proverbial snooze button, or do you cry to God for forgiveness, repentance and revival. Do you cry for restoration? That is the question before us as we study Psalm 80.
