CloseEveryone hurts sometimes, even kings, and even those who are in covenant relationship with God. David knew what it was to hurt deeply. Yet, in the midst of all of that, he knew who he could hold onto, and how to hold onto him. Many interpreters believe that Psalm 61 was written out of his hurt over his son Absalom’s attempted coup. This psalm is a pearl—small but precious—which teaches us how to respond to pain in our lives.
