CloseIn the passage before us we get a glimpse of the majestic, kingdom authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. We witness a demonstration of Jesus’ authority over the devil and over disease—over Satan and over sickness; his kingly rule over the spiritual and the physical. We witness his rule and the realm over which he is King; namely, over everything. In three short vignettes, Mark highlights Jesus’ authority over the synagogue, over (evil) spirits, and over sickness. Stated another way, Mark shows his authority in the congregation, in the home, and in the wider community.
