CloseFor the Christian, life can be a wilderness. Christians face the reality of trials on every hand. This is true of some more than others, to be sure. Nevertheless, we can all relate to the difficulties of life. But the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is precisely what empowers us to be fruitful in the midst of our foes and of our fears. Affliction can conjure up all sorts of fears and false realities that rob us of our joy. Mark's solution, it appears, is to remind us of God's cosmic salvific work of Christ.
