A Mosaic of Mercy (Psalm 86:1–17)
Psalm 86 is the prayer of a man in need of mercy. But before he gets to his actual appeal for mercy, he first spends time seemingly convincing himself that he should pray (i.e. that God will even hear him as he prays). Our consideration of this psalm will therefore deal with David arguing in prayer (vv. 1–13) and David asking in prayer (vv. 14–17).
