CloseThe theme of Psalm 97 is the universal rule of Yahweh. The theme of Yahweh’s reign begins building in Psalm 93, but while the preceding psalms emphasise His rule primarily over His own people, Psalm 97 shows that He rules universally, that He does so with justice and righteousness, and that His subjects have, therefore, great cause for rejoicing.
