Manhood, Womanhood and Marriage according to Jesus (Matthew 19:1–12)

The concepts of manhood, womanhood and marriage are under increasing attack in the age in which we live. Many sceptics of Christianity declare that Jesus said nothing about these matters, but in fact Jesus directly addressed this subject in the Gospel of Matthew, giving us some insight into a biblical understanding of manhood, womanhood and marriage.

In Titus 2:11–15, Paul highlights the grace of God in salvation. God’s grace converts unbelievers and enables believers to live righteously. These verses highlight God’s grace as a past action (v. 11), a present action (v. 12) and a future action (vv. 13–14).

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

(Titus 2:11–15)
