Pentecost Sunday (Acts 2:1–47)

Jesus told the disciples that the Holy Spirit would take his place when he ascended. He promised that the Spirit would come to convict unbelievers and bring to the disciples’ remembrance the truth he had taught them as well as revealing new truth to them. The Spirit’s ministry would be to exalt Jesus (See John 16:1-15). On the day of Pentecost, all of this occurred. The Holy Spirit descended, putting into practical effect the new covenant with God’s new covenant people behaving like it. We can learn much from this event for the church today.
