When we speak of missions, most of us see ourselves as non-experts who can play no meaningful part in the work of the Great Commission. We celebrate the great missionaries of whom we hear, but immediately exclude ourselves from their number. Paul writes to the Colossians, in chapter 4, to put this thinking to the lie. In the text before us he shows that every church member can participate in missionary work by prayer, personal evangelism, and partnerships in the gospel.
