Modelling Salvation (Judges 3:7–11)

Othniel, Israel’s first judge, serves as a flesh-and-blood example of the summary offered in 2:11–23. There, the writer gave the general pattern of events during the days of the judges; now, as if to underscore his point, he gives a living example of that pattern. Othniel serves as a model of what Old Testament judgeship looked like.
