In these closing verses of Proverbs 1, wisdom speaks directly to the son in need of instruction. The son, having been warned against a foolish, substitute family (vv. 8–19) will learn to tune his ear to wisdom amidst the many voices of folly calling to him. As he does so, he will submit his will to wisdom, continue to make wise choices, and thereby attain security.
