Discipleship and Children (Mark 10:13–16)

Jesus had just confronted hard-hearted Pharisees about marriage when he needed to confront his hard-hearted disciples about children. The Pharisees viewed women as insignificant and therefore held hardened attitudes about divorce rather than a positive commitment to honouring the marriage covenant. The disciples evidently harboured a similar hardness towards children. Just as Jesus corrected the Pharisees, so he corrected his disciples.
