President Cyril Ramaphosa recently informed the nation that, in light of the ongoing high numbers of COVID-19 infections, the country will remain on an adjusted Level 3 lockdown, which includes prohibitions against religious gatherings. Having wrestled together over the announcement, the elders of BBC are persuaded that government is, at this point, acting within its biblical mandate to prescribe restrictions on corporate gatherings in view of the pandemic and their concerns for an overrun health system. Though we detect inconsistencies with some of their decisions, nevertheless, as government seeks to balance protecting lives and livelihoods, we are committed to submitting to their imperfect leadership while trusting our sovereign Lord to bring the church through this. We therefore believe BBC should comply with the current restrictions on corporate gatherings.
For the next while, therefore, we will move our services to live-streaming only, with no option for in-person attendance. The easiest way to access the live-stream is to subscribe to the church’s channel, which will give you instant notification when we go live.
