Today, people place their trust in all sorts of gods—people, nations, armies, ideals, etc.—but, in reality, there is only one God, who is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the God who reigns and the one true Avenger. This is the theme of Psalm 94. It is a theological theme which, if properly grasped, will equip us to stand firm and gain life.
We hear much and think deeply on the biblical qualifications and characteristics of elders appointed to the church, but how often do we consider the responsibility of the congregation to care for its elders? The proper practice of corporate spiritual disciplines requires us to assess our responsibilities to our elders, for the good of the church and the progress of the gospel and the glory of God.
