Proverbs Exposition

Fundamentally, the purpose of Proverbs is that we might "know wisdom" for living-specifically, skill to make life work to the glory of God. As Kidner says, "Proverbs give us a window on the world. It is truth in street clothes."

Have you ever made a decision which, in hindsight, you realised was a bad idea? Perhaps you chose one course of action over another and realised too late where this would ultimately lead you. Proverbs 8 teaches that our choices have consequences, so we ought to choose wisely. It presents us with four reasons to choose wisdom. If we fail to heed wisdom’s call, we’ll make choices based on worldly ideas rather than godly ones, resulting, ultimately, in death.
