Though what Jesus said is straightforward, and therefore provides us with a biblical basis for the question of divorce and remarriage, he was saying a lot more than they asked. These words equip Jesus’ disciples with what we need to stand our biblical ground in matters of sexuality and gender as well as marriage, divorce, and remarriage.
