God's Pastoral Word (Hebrews 1:1-4)

Hebrews Exposition

One of the major problems addressed in Holy Scripture is the danger of drifting; the danger of those who profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ drifting away from Him. And such drifting is accompanied by doubting. Many professing Christians doubt their salvation and some doubt the Saviour. Such drifting and doubting is a serious concern and it is a serious and constant pastoral concern. It was clearly the concern of the writer of the epistle to the Hebrews. An anonymous writer had a deep pastoral burden for a flock of Hebrew Christians who were being tempted to drift away (2:1). And so, moved by the Holy Spirit, he penned God’s pastoral Word to keep His people from drifting away. In these opening verses we will see three important aspects of God’s Pastoral Word in relation to this matter of drifting.
