Why does the church exist? Even if we can give the theologically correct question, what does it look like practically? The church exists, not for itself, but for mission—to carry out the mission that Jesus Christ gave to it. That mission is to embrace a biblical commitment to planting healthy, reproducing churches.
This sermon, based on Acts 13:1–4, was preached at the first session of the 2018 annual Sola 5 Conference, hosted by Brackenhurst Baptist Church in Alberton, South Africa.
The conference also featured messages from Sammy Leballo (Moletsane Baptist Church), Mario Maneville (Reformed Faith Mission Community Church), Conrad Mbewe (Kabwata Baptist Church), Tyrell Haag (Heritage Baptist Church), and Chris Woolley (Midrand Chapel).
Phil Hunt is a pastor at Kitwe Church in Kitwe, Zambia.
